SUPRAS
The SUPRAS addresses the procedural and privacy rights of individuals suspected or accused of crime. It explores the legal uncertainties surrounding whether authorities may compel a suspect to disclose passwords or provide biometric identifiers to unlock digital devices, as well as to hand over decryption keys or unencrypted data. The project examines whether such obligations – and the sanctioning of suspects for refusing to comply – fall within fall within the scope of the right to remain silent and the privilege against self-incrimination, as guaranteed by Article 7 of Directive (EU) 2016/343 on the presumption of innocence and the right to be present at trial in criminal proceedings.
TESI – TN MASTER
The Joint Master's Program TESI aims to develop and promote the culture, design, management, governance, and evaluation of a social innovation approach in the social policies of the Adriatic-Ionian region. The project involves six universities and one research center from six Adrion countries (Italy, Croatia, Greece, Albania, Serbia, and Slovenia), with the support of the University of San Marino as an associated Partner.
EDGE
Europe’s liberal civic identity and emphasis on procedural democracy has offered only a thin solidarity, fostering limited cohesion, affective bonds, and collective attachment. Many have turned to alternatives promising deeper belonging; often populist, nativist, and ethno-national movements. Mainstream liberal discourse still assumes democratic culture is neutral and colourblind, even though these norms and solutions are depleted and fail to address crises including right-wing populism, global warming, and migration.
Wine Consortium and the Destination of Slovenian Istria
The project addresses a key challenge: building a strong and recognisable wine destination in Slovenian Istria, based on premium local wines and upgraded into a comprehensive wine‑tourism destination that integrates experiences, gastronomy and accommodation. The primary goal is to connect winemakers into a Wine Consortium and the Destination of Slovenian Istria, enabling them to engage in joint promotion, marketing and digital presence on global platforms (TripAdvisor, Booking, Airbnb, etc.). Only through a unified approach can local winemakers effectively compete with established regions and increase the added value of their products.
SI-N-CRO
The SI-N-CRO project addresses a shared challenge in the healthcare sector within the program area, aiming to promote and strengthen collaboration between institutions and eliminate inequalities in the healthcare provided to stroke patients. A unified stroke rehabilitation service in the cross-border area of the Coastal-Karst Region and Istria County is of critical importance. The interstate agreement between the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and the Government of the Republic of Croatia on cross-border cooperation in providing emergency medical assistance and hospital treatment, as well as the Administrative Agreement on Cooperation in Emergency Medical Assistance and Hospital Treatment (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 90, Ljubljana, 16 August 2023), emphasizes the urgency of measures to address inequalities in care on both sides of the border and to ensure a unified and state-of-the-art form of rehabilitation for patients.
GymAca
Gymnastics Academy (GymAca) aims to establish a harmonised, Europe-wide framework for gymnastics coach education, recognition, and certification. The project responds to the current fragmentation in coaching qualification systems by developing a standardised curriculum, an advanced digital learning platform, and practical training programmes, ensuring a high-quality, accessible, and scalable education model.
Corporate Law Measures to Promote the Competitiveness of the Slovenian Economy in Relation to Compliance with International Human Rights and Environmental Treaties and the Fight against Climate Change
This National Target Research Project explores the integration of sustainable development principles into corporate law. Its primary objective is to develop legally sound mechanisms for implementing Directive (EU) 2024/1760 – the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) within the Slovenian legal framework and to evaluate its implications for the competitiveness of Slovenian enterprises.
Mediterranean agricultural practices and societies in adaptation to environmental change
The Mediterranean is a hotspot of social and environmental wealth, but also of changes that threaten the well-being and healthy development of societies, as well as their survival. The research program group studies environmental changes, from their causes to their expression, and aims to understand the interaction of these on the global-local axis. In part, it focuses on Mediterranean agriculture and its nutritional and socio-economic value, linked to sustainable production and processing, especially olive farming and the production and processing of quality olive oil.
CLIMAGROW
The current state of irrigation in Slovenia shows that significant improvements are needed. The share of irrigated agricultural land is among the lowest in Europe, and the knowledge system and support services in this field are insufficient, fragmented, and poorly organised. To follow the Strategy for the Development of Slovenian Agriculture and the Strategic Plan until 2027, it is essential to strengthen knowledge and knowledge transfer in irrigation and other measures that help mitigate the effects of climate change (climate‑adapted crops and resilient varieties, climate‑adapted greenhouse production, use of beneficial microorganisms to reduce drought stress, development of aerobiological methods for pest monitoring and more efficient use of PPPs and biostimulants, advanced manure‑processing technologies, introduction of cover‑crop mixtures, adapted crop rotation, and practices that improve water retention and maintain agroecological functions).
SIS-Hubs
The SIS-Hubs project, aligned with previous AMIF-funded initiatives, supports the social integration of third-country national women and girls who are victims of trafficking or those at risk. It establishes community hubs offering access to services, awareness-raising on trafficking and exploitation, and tools to prevent re-trafficking.
INSPIRI
Progress toward the European Green Deal, the Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters, and related EU climate, biodiversity, and pollution targets is hindered by governance barriers such as mistrust among decision-makers, lack of public support, and modest policy action. Building on creative participatory methods, the INSPIRI project will contribute to overcoming these challenges.
EMPOWERMed
The Mediterranean faces worsening water scarcity due to shifting precipitation patterns and increasing demand from population and industry growth. Water accounting is crucial for understanding these dynamics, providing insights into hydrological changes, demand variations, and infrastructure needs. However, effective implementation faces challenges such as user acceptance.
RISTANC
Addressing EU Missions and tackling complex sustainability challenges requires radical collaboration across sectors and disciplines, led by knowledge institutions to bridge local actions with European-wide networks for broader impact. The RISTANC project focuses on the implementation of the EU Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters in Slovenian seas, part of a transboundary region of the Northern Adriatic.
