Peer Review Process

Nazaj na vrhnjo stran: ANNALES ZRS, Scientific Publishing House

Scientific Monographs

Upon receipt of a manuscript, the relevant subject-area editor (see the Annales ZRS Editorial Board) assesses whether it meets the submission criteria. If it does, the editorial team selects potential reviewers with expertise in the relevant research field to evaluate the manuscript and provide recommendations. The author may propose up to two preferred reviewers and up to two individuals whom they would prefer not to review the monograph. These suggestions are not binding on the editorial team.

A scientific monograph is evaluated by at least two reviewers. As a rule, both reviewers of monographs authored by researchers from ZRS Koper must be external. For external authors, one reviewer may be affiliated with ZRS Koper, provided that they meet the eligibility requirements for reviewers.

In accordance with the call for proposals issued by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), we use an open peer review process for scientific monographs, as reviewers must be identified by name in the published monograph.

In accordance with the ARIS call for proposals concerning scientific monographs, reviewers must meet the following requirements:

  1. A reviewer of a scientific monograph may be a Slovenian or foreign national who holds a doctoral degree in the discipline covered by the submitted scientific monograph and has an appropriate research title (research associate, senior research associate or research councillor) or an appropriate academic title (assistant professor, associate professor or full professor). Foreign reviewers must hold a doctoral degree and have published several high-quality works in the scientific field covered by the monograph.
  2. The reviewer must confirm that the monograph or critical edition of a source constitutes a scientific work. For this purpose, each reviewer must complete and sign the review form.
  3. The reviewer must not have had a conflict of interest with the author or co-author of the scientific monograph for at least one year prior to completing the review.
  4. The scientific review must be published in full or in part as an excerpt in the scientific monograph, together with the reviewer’s full name. The reviewers’ names must also be included in the monograph’s colophon.

All participants in the process—authors, editors and reviewers—must comply with the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement.

REVIEW FORM

Scientific Journals

When an article is submitted to a journal, the editor-in-chief and/or guest editor of the individual issue assesses whether it meets the submission criteria. If it does, the editorial team selects potential reviewers with expertise in the relevant research field to evaluate the manuscript and provide recommendations.

The journals use a double-blind peer review process: reviewers do not know the authors’ identities, and authors do not know who reviewed their manuscripts.

All participants in the process—authors, editors and reviewers—must comply with the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement.

The publisher uses an upgraded Open Journal Systems (OJS) online editorial platform to publish its two scientific journals, Annales Kinesiologiae and Poligrafi, and provides registration of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) at article level.

Further information about the journals’ editorial procedures is available at:
