The Law Institute at ZRS Koper is the only institute in Slovenia that approaches the phenomenon of law outside the established schematisation of the sciences, which places legal science within the social sciences.
The genealogy of legal science in the Western tradition shows its close connection with the sciences that today belong to the humanities (philosophy, history, linguistics), thus opening up a new perspective that places legal institutes in the context of the broadest – Western and European – spiritual tradition that has shaped us historically.
We firmly believe that only in this way can the challenges of democratic culture be properly understood and responded to. This is why we also build on the communication of academic discourse with legal practice, working together with various organisations that bring together lawyers from different professions. In particular, we incorporate into our research the experience of working in the legal profession, as this remains the paradigmatic discourse for law.
We also work on issues of corporate governance in the public sector and the business sector, particularly in the context of social responsibility as a contemporary model of corporate governance.
