The 8th Table Olive Festival was held at the Koper Regional Museum, where were presented the awards for the quality of table olives.
The Institute for Oliveculture of ZRS Koper organized the Festival of Table Olives for the 8th consecutive year, in cooperation with the Koper Regional Museum and with the sponsors’ support (companies): Petzl, Piranske Soline d.o.o. and Metro food.si.
This year, 10 producers submitted 24 different samples, 21 of which received a quality certificate. Before the official announcement of the best samples and the olive’s tasting, a professional lecture was held by Barbara Lanza from the CREA laboratory (Council for Agricultural Research and Economics, Pescara) entitled The Nutritional and Probiotic Characteristics of Table Olives – Latest Research.
The prize for the best sample of table olives this year went to the Vojvoda Bruno and Gigliola farm for their sample of Štorta olives: exactly for baked olives in olive oil (champion), followed by Domačija Milok with sample of Santa Caterina in brine (vice champion).
The sensory evaluation was led by the Institute of Oliveculture of ZRS Koper in line with the international standards for conducting sensory evaluations of table olives. The judges were: Rok Babič, Aleksandra Ožbolt, Jadran Jakončič, Mirjana Knez, Goran Gregorič, Barbara Bajda, Blaž Kante, Ernest Kante, Igor Novak, Aleksander Jevnikar, Darinka Čalija, and Dr. Milena Bučar-Miklavčič.

– Andrejeve Šmartnske Dobrote (homemade dried olives),
– Olive Growing Karlonga (“Ascolana” organic olives in brine),
– Ruzzier Guerrino (“Štorta in brine”), who also received an award for originality for the sample of pitted olives in brine with additives.
