Representatives of ZRS Koper at the UrbanLeap project meeting in Sofia

On September 20, 2025, a project meeting was held in Sofia (Bulgaria) as part of the UrbanLeap project, which was also attended by the representatives of ZRS Koper, Ana Cikač and Vesna Valenčič.

UrbanLeap is an innovative European project that aims to promote the growth and accessibility of parkour in Southeast Europe. It is conceived as a continuation of the successful URBANGYM project and responds to a key challenge that has arisen with the rapid expansion of the discipline – the lack of comprehensive, scientifically based and standardised teaching materials for parkour lessons.

The main aim of the project is to produce a standardised, research-based teaching manual that will serve as a reliable source of best practise for coaches and instructors and help to improve the quality of parkour teaching and training in the region. Following the development of the handbook, the project team will also prepare a promotional campaign that will include sporting events for young people and the general public, through which the project aims to increase the visibility and attractiveness of parkour.

ZRS Koper’s contribution to the project is the preparation of a comprehensive review of the scientific literature on parkour learning methods. In this way, ZRS Koper will use its research expertise to ensure that the future handbook is based on proven and high-quality scientific starting points.

In addition to the project meeting, a parkour competition was also held in Sofia, where participants demonstrated their creativity, agility and athleticism. The event emphasised the importance of the UrbanLeap project in linking research work, sports practise and the promotion of parkour among young people.

Through joint efforts, the partners aim to create a high quality, accessible and attractive learning environment for all those interested in parkour and to strengthen relationships between young people through movement, sport and exploring their own abilities.
