The Blanquerna Observatory for Communication, Religion and Culture in Barcelona hosted a two-day international symposium on 14 May 2026 entitled “Entangled Futures: Ethical, Social, and Philosophical Perspectives on Digitalization and Ecology.” The symposium was organized in collaboration with the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at ZRS Koper and supported by Dr. Victoria dos Santos’s DRIVEN project within the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The event, held at the rectorate of Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, was led by Prof. Dr. Miriam Diez Bosch, Director of the Blanquerna Observatory, and Vice-Rector Dr. Jordi Teixidó i Closa.
The symposium brought together professors and researchers from a range of disciplines — including philosophy, theology, media studies, sociology, engineering, and computer science — with the aim of discussing the pressing ethical challenges posed by the digital and ecological transitions in the contemporary world.
The importance of this kind of dialogue is particularly significant, as both transitions are profoundly reshaping societies, economies, and the very understanding of what it means to be human, while also raising questions that must be recognized in time and addressed responsibly.
