Fellowship Conditions

The scheme offers a fully funded one-month residency in Koper for scholars working on any aspect of the history of science, medicine, and technology across the Mediterranean. The fellowship is worth €2.000 and it is open to mid-career (6 years after the PhD) and senior researchers whose work would benefit from access to archival resources in the Veneto, Istrian, or Balkan regions, or who wish to organise a scientific event in collaboration with the Science and Research Centre (ZRS Koper).

Fellows will be hosted at ZRS facilities in Palazzo Tiepolo-Gravisi and provided with a private apartment (worth of €1.500), access to research facilities, and will receive a contribution toward travel or sustenance (€500).

Applications must include a cover letter outlining the project or event (max. 2,000 words), a recent CV, and the names and contacts of at least two referees.

Eligible events include conferences, workshops, symposia, and exhibitions. Applicants are encouraged to contact Dr Tilen Glavina, Head of ZRS historical research unit, before applying.

Fellows will contribute a report or article to the joint CSMBR and ZRS Blog and are expected to participate in the academic life of both institutions. Scientific outcomes from this Fellowship may be considered for publication in PSMEMM or Sudhoffs Archiv.

The residential programme runs from March to the end of June 2027.
