The Office for Knowledge and Technology Transfer operates within the Centre for Project Management. Its mission is to promote and strengthen the transfer of knowledge, best practices, research outcomes, and innovations in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences, while fostering cooperation and collaboration between ZRS Koper and knowledge users, the wider society, and the business sector.
Objectives
- Transfer knowledge to end users, the wider society, businesses, and other legal entities.
- Identify and protect intellectual property, including knowledge, skills, methodological approaches, research results, and innovations in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.
- Manage, protect, and commercialize intellectual property rights, professional expertise, and know-how.
- Provide support and advisory services for the establishment of spin-off companies.
Key Activities
The Office performs professional, administrative, and technical tasks related to knowledge transfer, including:
- Organizing legal and administrative support for researchers in transferring knowledge to end users and the wider society.
- Assisting in establishing contacts between researchers and potential knowledge users.
- Participating in negotiations and the drafting of agreements related to knowledge transfer, with particular emphasis on the protection of intellectual property rights.
- Managing procedures for the disclosure and acquisition of employee inventions and developing strategies and action plans for obtaining patent protection or other forms of intellectual property protection.
- Supporting the development of business strategies, preparing market analyses, and assisting in the establishment of spin-off companies.
- Promoting, utilizing, exploiting, commercializing, and licensing intellectual property rights, as well as facilitating their transfer to end users, the wider society, businesses, and other legal entities.
- Providing legal assistance in drafting and implementing intellectual property agreements.
- Promoting knowledge dissemination and organizing education and training activities.
- Providing other professional, technical, and administrative support.
