The two-day “EU Management Summer School” training course started today at the Centre for Humanities – ZRS Koper.
The training has been organised as part of the KRPAN project and is financed by the Slovenian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation together with the European Union – NextGenerationEU, whose partners in the project are the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, the University of Primorska, the Jožef Stefan Institute and the Koper Science and Research Centre. It aims to strengthen research support and increase staffing capacity in the partners’ project offices, to improve knowledge and skills for writing competitive tenders for European programmes, and to offer additional opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-sector networking between researchers in the partner organisations.
“This year is especially important for ZRS Koper, as we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. Over the last three decades, our scientific research centre, with its institutes at the helm, has developed into a major interdisciplinary scientific research hub, focusing on the specific environment of the Mediterranean and the Upper Adriatic. After three fruitful decades, we want to further strengthen our position in the international arena and become even more successful in securing European projects. It is with this aim in mind that we are holding today’s training. We want to gain a better insight into the structure of European tenders and the specific knowledge required for preparing high quality and successful applications for European projects, with a special emphasis on the Horizon Europe programme,” said Prof. Rado Pišot, Director of ZRS Koper.
To achieve these objectives, the partners will have put on a total of 40 events by the end of the project. These events will include 16 training sessions to improve the quality of European project applications, five events to exchange good practice methods, eight events to connect researchers with national and international partners for joint applications in European research tenders, and seven working study visits to successful research organisations in Europe. In addition, there will be other advisory, information and promotional activities related to European projects.
“Today’s training is intended to improve our knowledge of writing project applications, contributing to the knowledge of the entire ZRS team and the KRPAN consortium. The goal of the project is to increase application success by two percent,” said Ana Šajn, head of the Project Management Center for ZRS Koper.
The training workshop is led by Dr. Jitka Eryilmaz, from the company EFMC – European Fund Management Consulting, who is an expert with many years of experience writing applications for European tenders. Jitka is the director of the department responsible for project applications, the EFMC lead trainer, and co-author of the training material. As a lecturer she has presented proven methodologies and approaches for writing successful project applications.
“On this occasion, I would like to give special thanks to the Project Management Center – ZRS Koper, which makes an important contribution to our understanding of how to prepare project applications, and consequently to the knowledge-base of the entire ZRS Koper team and the Krpan consortium, and will certainly increase the success of applications for centrally funded projects,” adds Prof. Rado Pišot.
