During his yesterday’s visit to ZRS Koper, Andrej Korenika, the Mayor of the Municipality of Piran, concluded that the Science and Research Centre of Koper (ZRS) Koper possesses significant knowledge, which, through collaborative and thoughtful efforts, could also contribute to the developmental strategies of the Piran municipality.
Together with his closest associates, Deputy Mayor Manuela Rojec and Cabinet Chief Roman Bažec, and within the framework of discussions with Istrian municipalities, which has been for several years now organised by ZRS Koper, he met with the director of ZRS Koper, Prof Dr Rado Pišot, as well as the heads of institutes and unit leaders at ZRS Koper.
Following comprehensive presentations on the activities of ZRS Koper and its future plans, the Mayor welcomed their investments, highlighting in particular the construction of the Competence Centre for Mediterranean Cultures in Plavje, for which ZRS Koper recently obtained a building permit. He also highlighted some degraded areas in the Piran municipality, for which he sees future development opportunities in collaboration with ZRS Koper. Discussion also revolved around the possibilities of collaboration within international projects, particularly regarding the participation in projects funded through cohesion policy, where ZRS has been very successful. Representatives of the Municipality of Piran welcomed various projects and activities taking place in the Piran municipality, including the SCORE project addressing environmental issues, as well as various conferences, summer schools, etc.
“The collaboration with Istrian municipalities is of exceptional importance for further development and integration of stakeholders in the region’s social life,” said the director of ZRS Koper, Prof Dr Rado Pišot.
In May, ZRS Koper is planning to host the mayors of the City of Koper and the Municipality of Izola.
