At the Health 2024 Conference organised by the Delo media house as part of the Delo Business Centre, Prof. Dr. Rado Pišot, Director of the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper), highlighted the problem of physical inactivity, which affects more than 80% of the population. He presented examples of innovative solutions, such as use of VR glasses to speed up the rehabilitation of patients after stroke. He also emphasised the importance of prevention programmes that reduce long-term healthcare costs.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mladen Gasparini, MD, Specialist in General and Vascular Surgery and Head of the Surgical Department of Izola General Hospital, also spoke at the event about the role of advanced technologies in surgery and rehabilitation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nada Rotovnik Kozjek, MD, Founder and Head of the Department of Clinical Nutrition at the Oncology Institute in Ljubljana and President of the Slovenian Association for Clinical Nutrition, emphasised the importance of clinical nutrition for the health of patients. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petra Došenović Bonča, Head of the Masters’ Degree in Management and Economics in Healthcare at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, spoke about the importance of cooperation between insurers and healthcare institutions for more effective prevention programmes.








The Health 2024 conference enabled an in-depth discussion about the challenges and opportunities in the Slovenian healthcare system. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Pišot highlighted important aspects of how science, research and innovation contribute to a better future of healthcare in Slovenia. He pointed out numerous opportunities offered by science aimed at rehabilitation measures (preparation for surgery) during hospitalisation and rehabilitation approaches that enable a better quality of life and faster and better recovery. Insurers should offer such programmes based on foreign models for Slovenian citizens.
