NEURODANCE during the European Week of Sport: From a gathering in Koper to a dance performance in Ljubljana

As part of the European Week of Sport, an event organised within the international project NEURODANCE – Dancing intervention to ameliorate the symptoms and promote the well-being of patients with Parkinson’s Disease and related neurodegenerative disorders took place at the Mediterranean Health Centre of the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper) on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. The project is led by Manca Peskar at the Institute for Kinesiology Research of ZRS Koper.

Under the guidance of kinesiologists, people with Parkinson’s disease underwent physical assessments and enjoyed playing table tennis together. They also tried out an interactive balance board, which allowed them to train both their balance and cognitive abilities through computer games.

On Wednesday 30 September, members of the Trepetlika Association from Novo Mesto – who dance in a group led by dance teacher Jana Dragan and are taking part in the NEURODANCE project – performed a dance routine at the Festival for the Third Age at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.

The NEURODANCE project (ERASMUS-SPORT-2024, project no. 101185424) is funded by the European Union.
