Within the framework of the 4PETHABECO project, we invite you to attend a workshop on the application of the iNaturalist platform in citizen science initiatives for the monitoring of large carnivores.
During the workshop, we will present:
- the significance and applications of citizen science in biological research, education, and the monitoring of the presence and signs of large carnivores;
- the iNaturalist project group established within the framework of the 4PETHABECO project, as well as a new tool that will be integrated into the project’s geoportal.
iNaturalist is a web- and mobile-based platform designed for collecting biodiversity data through user-submitted photographs of plants and animals. It also functions as a social network for amateur and professional naturalists and researchers, enabling data sharing, species identification, discussion, and collaboration. When properly validated, these data can contribute valuable information to scientific research by complementing existing species monitoring datasets.
The workshop will be held in English via the Zoom online platform on 6 May at 14:00 (CET).
Registration is open until 5 May via the registration form HERE.
Participation is free of charge.
Further details can be found in the attached invitation.
