On Friday, 19 June 2026, the Municipality of Piran hosted the professional meeting “Digital Health Without Borders: Researchers, Clinicians and Entrepreneurs for Better Care”, organised by the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper) in cooperation with the Slovene Enterprise Fund, Technology Park Ljubljana and the partners of the Health Plus programme.
The event, moderated by Prof. Dr Uroš Marušič (ZRS Koper), brought together representatives of research organisations, healthcare institutions, companies and the innovation support environment, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the development of modern healthcare solutions. The focus was on successful examples of transferring scientific research into clinical practice and onto the market.

Participants were addressed by researcher Dr Jeannette R. Mahoney (Stony Brook University), who, in her keynote lecture, presented the development of the digital tool CatchU® and demonstrated how fundamental research can lead to innovations with a direct impact on healthcare and quality of life.
The programme continued with the presentation of FroomCare by Grega Nahtigal as a successful example of transferring research into clinical and market practice. This was followed by a roundtable discussion featuring Grega Nahtigal (FroomCare), Dr Jeannette R. Mahoney, Maja Tomanič Vidovič, MSc (Slovene Enterprise Fund), Dr Tilen Smoje (Izola General Hospital) and Prof. Dr Rado Pišot (ZRS Koper). The discussion focused on the role of cooperation between science, healthcare and entrepreneurship, as well as the challenges of introducing innovation into the healthcare system.
The participants emphasised that close cooperation among stakeholders and a supportive environment for knowledge transfer into practice are essential for the successful development and implementation of health technologies. Such meetings contribute to building partnerships and accelerating the development of solutions for better and more accessible healthcare.
The event concluded with informal networking, which enabled participants to exchange experiences and establish new collaborations in the field of digital health.

The operation is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund, within the framework of the programme Content Support for the Faster Global and Sustainable Growth of Innovative SMEs (RazvojniPlus Programme), 2021–2027.
