What does it mean to breathe together? Can we discover the deepest foundations of ethics, closeness, and religion precisely in breath and the heartbeat?
These questions will be explored by Dr Lenart Škof, Head of the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at ZRS Koper, in a seminar that will take place on 15 May 2026, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., at the Blanquerna Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain.
The lecture, which will be delivered in English, may also be attended online upon prior registration via the LINK.
The lecture, Breath and Heart – Agapeology as the Birthplace of Religion, offers an original philosophical reflection on human interiority through the fundamental rhythms of breath and the heart. By interweaving ancient Upanishadic teachings, Christian hesychasm, and contemporary philosophy of the heart, Dr Škof will present agapeology as a new approach to understanding the human person, relationships, and the sacred.
Central to the lecture will be the concepts of co-breathing, compassionate presence, and agapeic bonds between people, through which the possibility of a different understanding of religion emerges—as a profound inner encounter grounded in breath, closeness, and love.
You are warmly invited to reflect on the human person, relationships, and spirituality in the contemporary world.
