Invitation to a discussion on salt-making

The Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at the Science and Research Centre Koper invites you to a discussion on salt-making, the management of salt-pan areas, and their recognition and preservation as cultural heritage.

The discussion will focus on the research project “A Grain of Salt, Crystallising Coexistence”, which involved Dr Maja Bjelica, Dr Jerneja Penca, Matjaž Kljun, MA, and Dr Primož Pipan.

They will discuss the topic on 7 October at 5.00 pm at the former Monfort salt warehouse in Portorož.

The event is being held as part of the European Heritage Days and Cultural Heritage Week 2026.

It is also the final event of this year’s Salt-making Encounters.
