Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies ZRS Koper,
Alma Mater Europaea University (ISH Faculty)
and
are organizing a symposium entitled
“From Research to the Public: Science Communication in the Humanities and Social Sciences.”
The event will take place on 26 May,
starting at 9:00 a.m.,
at the Centre for Humanities of ZRS Koper (Kreljeva 6, Koper).
In contemporary society, science communication has become an essential part of research work. Researchers are increasingly expected to present complex ideas in ways that are accessible to the public while maintaining scientific integrity and distinguishing their work from journalism and public relations.
The symposium will bring together lectures by international experts, a panel discussion, and a practical workshop dedicated to the challenges of science communication in the humanities and social sciences. Participants will explore how research can be effectively communicated to the public, what its societal impact may be, and what role researchers play in today’s public sphere.
Participation in the event is free of charge; however, prior registration is required HERE.

From Theoretical Discussions to Practical Approaches
The symposium addresses:
- the importance of science communication in the humanities and social sciences;
- ways of translating research findings into the public sphere;
- collaboration between researchers, media professionals, cultural institutions, and the wider public;
- good practices and innovative approaches to presenting scientific work to diverse audiences.
The symposium is intended for:
- researchers and scholars;
- science communication professionals;
- students;
- representatives of the media, cultural, and educational institutions; and
- anyone interested in strengthening the connection between research and society.
The programme will also include individual 15-minute consultation sessions with experts, during which participants will be able to receive feedback on:
- presenting their research to broader audiences;
- the communication strategy of a research project;
- identifying target audiences;
- selecting appropriate communication channels.
