A new scientific monograph entiteled Virtual Worlds and the Values of the Digital Future, authored by Dr. Gašper Pirc, a researcher at the Institute for Philosophical and Religious Studies at ZRS Koper, has been published. The book is co-published by Alma Mater Press and Annales ZRS.
In this work, the author engages with the philosophy of digitality and artificial intelligence within the context of contemporary society. The monograph follows current technological development trends and critically and ethically evaluates them, offering an in-depth exploration of issues such as cyber law, moral standards in digital environments, digital violence, AI ethics, the status of digital agents, and the internal structure of online and virtual worlds.
Particular emphasis is placed on the normative aspects of online communities of the future, which are increasingly establishing themselves as important social actors, especially in times of growing tensions and uncertainty.
The first presentation of the book will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Alma Mater University in Ljubljana, located at Dunajska cesta 158. The event will be dedicated to the presentation of the monograph and a discussion of the key issues of the digital future raised by the work.
