Biography:

Gašper Mithans, (1982) works as a Research Fellow at the Science and Research Centre (SRC) Koper since October 2014. He graduated in Cultural Studies and Social Anthropology (2007) at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities (UP FHS) in Koper, Slovenia and received Bartol's award for the best Bachelor thesis. He holds PhD degree in History of Europe and Mediterranean (2012) at the same institution. Previously he worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Primorska, Science and Research Centre (2007-2012) and as an Assistant Professor and a Research Fellow at the UP FHS (2013, 2014). In the years 2008–2010 he was a secretary of the Union of Historical Societies of Slovenia. At SRC Koper he has participated at Slovene research projects, and led an international project co-financed by the Europe for citizens programme (Burnt in memories (2015–2017)). Recently, he carried out research for his postdoctoral project Everyday religious practices and conversions in Slovenia (1918-1941) funded by the Slovene Research Agency (1/2016–12/2017). Mithans is the author of the scientific monograph Jugoslovanski konkordat: pacem in discordia ali jugoslovanski »kulturkampf« [Yugoslav concordat: pacem in discordia or Yugoslav “Kulturkampf”], and several scientific articles and conference papers, especially from the field of History of Religions and History of the interwar Yugoslavia. He is conducting archival and library research in Vatican, Belgrade, Chicago, Berlin, Slovenia, Italy and elsewhere.
