Blaž Lenarčič received Ph.D in Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana in 2009. From 2007, he works at the Science and Research Centre Koper, where he deals with the effects of ICT on the broader society, social networks' analysis, social capital, sociology of sport and spatial sociology. In 2013, he was a visiting lecturer at the University of Cantebury in Christchurch, New Zealand. For his research achievements, he received the “Glasnik znanosti” award for promising researchers by the Science and Research Centre, University of Primorska. During the period 2011-2015 was member of the government's Commission for GMOs management. Since 2016 is member of the Presidency of the Slovenian Sociological Association.
