Biography:Peter Kumer holds a PhD in human geography obtained at the University of Ljubljana. His current academic focus on sustainability aspects of land management, spatial inequalities, sense of place and placemaking links to his background in urban, rural and political geography. As a young researcher, he worked at the Anton Melik Geographical Institute, ZRC SAZU, and he completed PhD training in the USA.
At the Mediterranean Institute for Environmental Studies (MIOS) ZRS Koper, he is employed as part of the SCORE (Horizon 2020) project. Within the framework of the MIOS institute, his research is focused on topics related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, citizen science, participatory decision-making and stakeholder involvement. At work, he uses two computer tools: geographic information systems (GIS) and ATLAS.ti.
He is currently also employed at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, where he covers environmental topics (he is involved in the GoDanuBio and H2GreenTECH projects and in the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities mission ).
He has published many original scientific and professional articles, scientific monographs and chapters in scientific monographs, contributions at conferences and several polemics, discussions, commentaries.
