 Biography:

Matic Batič studied history and German studies at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana between 2009 and 2015. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2012, and in 2015 he finished the master’s level of the dual-subject programme with a thesis on German journalism in Gorizia in the second half of the 19th century. Since 2015, he has been enrolled in the doctoral programme at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska. He has also attended courses at the Humboldt University of Berlin (2017) and at the Forschungszentrum Deutsch in Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa in Regensburg (2016).
Since October 2015, he has been employed at the Institute for Historical Studies at the Science and Research Centre Koper as a young researcher. His doctoral research targets the ideologically loaded spatial interventions in the Gorizia region between the end of the First World War and 1943.
For his master’s thesis, “Wir denken zwar deutsch, wir fühlen deutsch, werden es aber niemanden verargen, anderen Sinnes zu sein”: Görzer Wochenblatt (1867) und Görzer Zeitung (1868-1869), the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana awarded him the faculty France Prešeren Prize for research excellence in 2015.
So far, he has published 5 scientific articles and several other publications (reviews, professional articles), and he has presented the results of his research at a number of scientific conferences. A comprehensive list of publications is available online .
