Research Areas:

Her basic research covers the field of kinesiology in a broader sense, among which is the sociological aspect of the environment and the contemporary lifestyle impact on the human activity or inactivity.

Her research focuses more specific on social factors for shaping lifestyles and their influence on the physical efficiency of the studied populations as well as to other social phenomena in the connection with kinesiology.

Biography:

Saša Pišot is a Research Associate at the Institute for Kinesiology Research. She graduated in 1996 at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences in the field of Sociology (HRM). In 2008, she obtained the title of Master of Cultural Studies and Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska and in 2018 she received her Ph.D. of the study program Humanities and Social Studies; in scientific field: Sociology of Everyday Life at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences

She is involved in the current national and international projects carried out by the Institute. Her research focuses on the research of social phenomena in the field of kinesiology, such as social particularities of modern society in the context of physical (in)activity of particular social group.

Sub-areas of research:

  • sociology of everyday life with an emphasis on social factors of physical (in) activity; and factor of shaping of lifestyle.
  • sociology of sport (impact of life events on the life of athletes, cohesiveness and group dynamics of sports teams, etc.)

Currently she is a Research Associate at the Institute for Kinesiology Research and is engaged in the activities of the Institute, where with colleagues they research the factors of (in)activity and intervention, prevention and rehabilitation training programs for different populations (children, adolescents, athletes); factors for quality and healthy aging, factors of a healthy workplace, and others. She regularly presents the research results at international conferences, in scientific articles and other scientific work.

From 2008 to 2011 she was a member of the IKARUS group for the preparation of new study programs Applied Kinesiology 1st and 2nd cycle at the University of Primorska FAMNIT which started in the academic year 2010/11 as well as for additional PhD program of Applied Kinesiology.

From 2010 until 2016 she taught seminars and practicum with social topics as Assistant for Didactic of Social Science at the University of Primorska, at Faculty for Education and at study program Applied Kinesiology.

Since 1996 to date, she has published over 80 scientific and professional publications.

As a member of the Institute, together with her colleagues, she received the »Glasnik znanosti« award for the excellency of work of the Institute for Kinesiology Research for the year 2010.

International project:

  • From 2011 to 2014 she was involved in the project PANGEA – »Physical Activity and Nutrition for Quality Ageing« (INTERREG).
  • From 2015 to 2016 at the project A-Qu-A “Active and quality ageing in the home environment” within the scope of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, managed by the Ljubljana Elderly Care Institute.

National projects:

  • from 2009 to 2012 in the project J5-2397 »Analysis of Fundamental Motor Patterns, Skeletal and Muscular Adaptation to Specific Sedentary Lifestyle Factors in Children Aged 4 – 7 Years«
  • from 2011 to 2012 in the project of Ministry for work, family and social affairs »SOS- stress, absence and distress« of wood industry workers in the implementation of UP SRC, CSG.
  • from 2009 to 2010 as project leader »Quality physical exercise for health (KVAK)« co-financed by Ministry for education and sports; Ministry for health and Sport Foundation.
  • as a researcher she participated in several projects financed by the Sport Foundation.

In the years 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2017 she was a member of the organizing committee of the International Scientific and Professional Conference “Child in Motion”. Member of the program committee of the 4th scientific-professional conference “Motor skills of children” (Zagreb, August 31, 2018).
